IPB Youth & Community Fund offers funding for environmental projects

The Irish Public Bodies insurance group (who insure all the local authorities) have recently announced a new Youth & Community Fund, and are making funding of up to €15,000 available to groups for projects across a range of topics, including arts & culture, youth, the elderly, community development, sport and the environment.

Much of the work undertaken by Tidy Towns groups would be eligible under the Environment category, where Qualifying initiatives include those that:

  • Promote civic responsibility by getting people involved in shaping and looking after their local environment
  • Assist in the upgrading of (not replacement) physical improvement and development of civic ownership of local amenities (e.g. allotments)
  • Seeks to bring previously developed land back into public use

Projects should be once-off in nature and should happen in 2014.  No match funding is required.
